Social distancing on buses?

If social distancing is required how will you extend that to your buses? Will you drivers and monitors be wearing masks and gloves?

On our buses, we require all drivers, bus monitors and student passengers to wear a mask whilst on the bus. The children are also temperature checked prior to getting on the bus and parents have been asked to temperature check their children before delivering them to the bus stop, if they are above 37.5C then they should not get on the bus or go to school. We also spray the students hands with hand sanitizer as they get on. The buses are cleaned after each trip also.

 

 

 

Regarding your buses, have you been able to keep the same number of children on each bus with these policies? For temperature checks and hand spraying, has this created extra time requiring schedule adjustments? In terms of cleaning, who has the responsibility for that work?

 

Hi Kevin, 

Yes we have pretty much unchanged bus schedules. We are fortunate in the fact that Taiwan has been able to manage the crisis in a very proactive way and limited the cases on island.

We have had to have our primary campus bus administrators put temperature check station and hand spray stations at the bus drop off zone - this has meant staff doing any extra 30 minutes a day to man the check stations. 

For the bus cleaning, we use a bus company contractor for the bus service and it has been their responsibility to add this additional cleaning to their service.
